The Legacy Continues...
The film is jubilant its 30th anniversary, and the obsession is still going strong. Director Kenny Leon brought a gimmicky rendition, with an all African-American cast, to Lifetime in 2012, and regional theaters around the country go on to produce Robert Harling's 1987 play. Visitors to Natchitoches, LA tin also stay in the house that served as the set for the Eatentons' dwelling in the film—it'south now a bed and breakfast.
